My Background

My Background

Largely self taught, I began my adventure in watercolors in 1997 taking classes from  Ann Murphy Armstrong. After several workshops with nationally known artists such as Judy Betts, Gerald Brommer, Steve Rodgers, Betsy Dillard Stroud, and Don Andrews, I joined the Barclay Sheaks Art Group.  Now known as the Williamsburg Studio Painters, I am again working under the tutalidge of Ann Armstrong.  My art has been exhibited at Prince George Art and Frame, Williamsburg Contemporary Art Gallery, Williamsburg Art Gallery, and The Charles Taylor Art Center, as well as local art festivals, Art on the Square, An Occasion for the Arts, and Art on the River.  Awards have been prsented to her art at This Century Art Gallery, Central Virginia Watercolor Guild, Art at the River, and Art on the Square.

My Medium

Although I have used other mediums on occasion, watercolors remain my favorite.   The transparently and luminosity of watercolors is always a challenge and when it works it is reward in itself.

My Inspiration

Life is full of small segments that often go unnoticed but have an impact on our emotions, if we stop to look.   As an artist I strive to bring those moments to paper with watercolor.
